a few days ago, mike and i were sitting on the couch watching a movie when he suddenly sat up and hit the pause button.

"did you hear that?" he asked.

no, i hadn't. this wasn't surprising, however, since mike seems to hear things all the time that no one else does. let me rephrase that. mike has very sensitive hearing. (but sense of smell? potentially non-existent)

back to the point... "it sounded like the elevator bell," he continued. so he got up and walked out of the apartment and towards the elevator.

ten minutes later, he hadn't appeared yet, so i went to investigate. apparently, the elevator had gotten stuck between two floors, the doors hadn't opened all the way, and a young woman was stuck in there.

mike to the rescue! he called the appropriate people and helped the girl out of the elevator. turns out she was a millionaire and... ok, not really.

but mike still counts as a hero.
