i've been reading a reviewing galley proofs for the library. the collection development people send me a proof (a copy of the book pre-publication that publishers send out to drum up interest) and i read it and tell them what i think. it's been fun so far because i never know what book i'm going to get and have therefore read some books i never would have picked up myself. and when it comes to giving my opinion... well, i'm pretty good at that.
i went with laura to try on wedding dresses (she tried them on, i stood there and told her how pretty she looked - which she did). let me tell you, it's a good thing she's not buying the dress here in new york because she'd have a hard time finding anything for under a grand. the lady at the shop told her she was fabulous, though. i've never heard a real person say that in a real situation. it was so... new york.
i get to visit several kindergarten classes tomorrow. here's hoping i get them interested in stories and reading (even though i have to get up at 6:30 a.m. to get there in time...)
