last weekend i saw some of the rockstars of my world.

lois lowry
judy blume
mo willems
avi
the guys who write the unshelved comic
gary schmidt (who got me into grad school)
john sciezska (whose name i can't spell)

and more authors and illustrators than i can actually list here. i spent a lot of time gaping at them.

i also saw a book cart drill tournament. a team of ten or so librarians with a book cart each perform choreography of varying degrees of difficulty. it's a little like synchronized swimming with book carts. totally ridiculous, and rarely have i ever been so proud to be a librarian.

and next year my library is totally competing. oh yeah.
