after a year here, mike got a raise.

sure, it only translated to... $64 more a paycheck, but it was something.

today, we got a notice under our door. our rent is increasing by pretty much that amount.

great, guys. thanks a lot.

since we've been at the theater until really late recently, we've been taking a lot more cabs than usual. it's either 45 minutes of public transportation or 15 minutes of cab. at midnight, the choice is clear.

and the thing about cabs, see, is that you get to drive vicariously through them. the nice person in me would never try to worm my way around the stupid person who is blocking almost the whole road, but when i'm in a taxi, i get a kick out of the horn and the pushing and the overtly hostile driving. and feeling that you might die at any moment only adds to the excitement.

although i seem to have made myself believe that taxis don't have accidents.

yes, my delusional world is quite comfortable, why do you ask?

Yes, Jeremy and I also noticed that very interesting similarity. Sigh.

I do think there is some logic behind the belief that cabs don't get in as many accidents. If you do something a lot, you tend to get good at it. Obviously accidents still happen, but at least the driver of your car has a good sense of his car and of how to drive in the city.

Ah, those NYC cabs! I said it before and I'll say it again, it was worse than flying. And you know what flying means to me.

Hey Laura, I was actually in a cab accident the first summer I moved here! It was pretty minor, but I've never felt the same about being in a cab. Hey, at least I got a free cab ride:)
