leaving rehearsal and on our way to the train, mike and i ran into a woman who was parked at the side of the road with a baby in the back seat and a map spread out in front of her.

she called out to us, so we walked over and tried to figure out how to help. she was on her way out of town after a funeral and was trying to get to the north of the island. mike and i showed her how to do it, assured her that it was easy (it was) and that she would find it with no problem (she would).

she thanked us profusely and as we were walking away, she called out "hey, what religion are you guys?" somewhat confused by the question, we nonetheless answered "christian." "yeah, but what branch?" "christian reformed," i told her, "it's a little like presbyterian." "i thought you'd be christian," she said before driving off.

and they'll know we are christians by our... directions.

nice. I like moving in the city as though I know where I am going and then receiving comments and complaints about "tourists" from other "locals."

This is quite a testimony of the impact Christians as individuals can have on people...the scary part is the impact they can have when they are bunched together as a group! :)

i wonder what branch of Christianity she'd have considered un-Christian
