i am truly a midwestern girl.

today i took a 9x13 pan of mini-cheesecakes to work to celebrate my birthday (remember taking cupcakes to class on your birthday when you were in school?). i just had a pan with the cheesecakes and saran wrap on top.

the following incriminates me:

- i had made these cheesecakes myself from scratch instead of buying them.
- i was carrying them in a pan with saran wrap and not in a fancy gift box.
- i took them on a bus and two subways before finally arriving at my destination. anybody who is anybody travels strictly by cab.

i can't tell you how many looks i got for having them. on the other hand, two ladies on the train to queens offered to buy them from me. mike was surprised i didn't just sell them off, but the people at work were grateful.

celebrity sighting of the day: ok, so this isn't really a celebrity, but i swear i saw a paparrazzi (good lord, how DO you spell that?) on the bus. either that, or someone with a lot of photography equipment and a lens larger than most children. i should have asked him who he had just been spying on, but i probably would have had to offer him a cheesecake in return.
