it has been over a week. there is no excuse for this.

i am, however, exhausted. rehearsals started this week. the library is nuts (as usual) and i keep hoping that i'll have the energy to upload pictures of the renaissance fair that we went to because it's sad to post without them. seeing how long it has been, however, i'm just going to go ahead with what i've got.

first, i'm going to tell you two subway stories. if you are sick of subway stories, you may skip the following. at least subways are interesting. as my best friend pointed out to me the other day, they are much more interesting than cabs. (the other day, i got in a cab and ... went home.)

number one. i was on the train late one night when two men came on the subway. they were older and somewhat grungy to dirty. they started singing a doo-wop (spelling?) type of song in pretty good harmony. then they ended (asking for money, of course) with some parting lines:
- remember
- smile!
- it won't wreck your hair.
- we hope you enjoy your night in new york city
- where all the women are pretty
- and they all have jobs!!

number two. i was standing in a very crowded train and semi-hanging over an suited businessman who was reading the wall street journal. a few minutes into the ride, he calmly took a pen out of his pocket and drew small horns and a hitler mustache of a picture of cheney. then he put the pen back in his pocket and kept reading.

rehearsals started for scrooge this week. we're working on a musical version of a christmas carol - if anyone is interested in visiting during the first few weekends of december, they could go see it... you know you want to... especially cause i'm calling the light cues... it's a lot of fun to see the show get up on it's feet, but it also means that i'm not usually home before 11. makes getting up at 7:30 not so easy.

meanwhile, mike is in the dark. literally. a couple of the compounds he is working with are light sensitive so he has to work with them in the dark. this morning, he mentioned something about functionalities and something else that means he's going to be working in the dark a little longer. at least it's raining and cloudy today so he's not missing much.

next time on the intermittent posting life of laura: the renaissance faire, including pictures of the mud brothers (named dudley mudd (for his mother), dudley mudd (for his father) and dudley mudd (no relation)), the maypole, the guy who lit fireworks off his chest (really) and anything else we remembered to take pictures of.

I think you're underestimating how interesting a cab ride can be, especially in NYC. You should've been with me when I took a cab to your apartment in May. The plane ride to NYC was nothing compare to that!!! It was a harrowing ride!
