an older man came in to the library and wanted to use the copy machine. he was trying to copy the dentist listings. it took some fiddling with the lightness of the copy and so forth, but i made him the copies he needed. and since he seemed a little lost, i just used the copier key so he didn't have to pay for the copies.

he offered to bring me coffee instead of payment. i declined. he thanked me and left.

a couple minutes later, he was back. "i came to this city in 1962," he told me, " and you are the best librarian i've ever dealt with."

all i did was make a few copies. but it was nice to hear it, however undeserved it might be.

(1962! that's... 40 um... a LOT of years!!)

An elderly woman who was ahead of me the other day at D&W needed a lot of assitance and the cashier was very kind to her. It touched my heart to see it and I told the cashier so. Given my opinion of the human race, it is refreshing to see people being kind to others. Keep it up, girl!!
