and then i found five dollars

a long long time ago, in a city far away, i parked mike's car rather badly and ended up with a parking ticket.

a few months ago, i found said ticket in our paperwork.

it said:
paid within 30 days: $30
paid after 30 days: $35

considering how long i had had that ticket, i sent them a check for $40.

yesterday, i received a letter from the city of champaign. i was a little concerned that they were writing to complain that the ticket was so past its date that i had to appear in court. instead, i found a letter saying i had overpaid my ticket and a check for five dollars.

and, as we all know, that's an ending that makes every story better.
