things that we have spent money on in new york:

1 - dinner at the carnegie deli. while we saw lots of pictures of celebrities that have eaten there over the years, we saw no actual celebrities. we also saw sandwiches that were so tall (12 inches, sometimes) that no one could bite into them. unfortunately, despite dedicating ourselves to people watching for several minutes, we still have no idea how to eat such a monstrosity.

2 - a boat trip around the island. mike took the afternoon off and we took a three hour boat trip. we both enjoyed getting a feel for the island (i've never lived on a island before!) and seeing the city from a different perspective. we also got a great view of the statue of liberty (mike's comment: "she's smaller than i thought she was") and battery park and all those buildings that we haven't actually gone to visit yet.

3 - theatre (of course). mike thought we might want to save our tickets, but i'm not sure if we want to see all that money hanging from a bulletin board. on the other hand, at least we would be able to see where it was going. it's worth the money, though, when you see the sets they have created and the amazing costumes. one day, those sets will arrive onstage at my command. you'll see.

clearly, it's a good thing for me to start my job soon.

p.s. sunday is our one year anniversary! yay!
