yesterday i had a guest speaker to do storytime (yes, it exhausts even me). she asked the kids if they knew a song about a spider and one little girl started singing it (“the itsy bitsy spider!”). Teresa (the guest speaker) was impressed. Then she asked if they knew a song about the bus. And the little girl started (hand motions and everything) to sing “the wheels on the bus go round and round!!” Teresa asked her: who is teaching you these songs? And the little girl pointed straight at me.

validation comes in many forms when you're a lucky girl like me, but that was one of the sweetest.

speaking of sweets, i pass a tasti-d-lite on my way home every night and today i though to myself "i'd sure like me one of those" (in my thoughts i am apparently incurably country). when i walked in, i saw they were having a customer appreciation day. they say there is no such thing as a free lunch, but when i walked out with my free fake ice cream, i sure felt like there could be.
