there are two sides to everything.

the other night, we went to a friend's building and as we approached the revolving door, we noticed someone on the inside. the man was wearing a uniform and as we walked into the sections of the revolving door, he gave the door a push so that we would not have to push it ourselves.

tonight, while i was waiting for the bus wearing a long skirt*, a mouse came running out of a very fancy restaurant. he ran around the lamp post, ran over the tire of the bike that was parked there and came to rest under my skirt. while i didn't panic, i wasn't crazy about having a mouse at my feet. instead of being bloodthirsty like other people i know, i simply shifted my weight and the mouse ran out from under my feet and back into the restaurant.

from door pushing doormen to mice under my feet. i'm not sure which i enjoyed less.

in other news, i am a terrible mover. i moved so much as a child that i got used to leaving people behind. it's only recently, through the magic of the internet, that i have managed to move without losing my friends. but now it's gotten even better. through the magic of facebook, i am making up for past sins and people i have left behind. in the past few days, i have found some of my good good friends from nicaragua that i haven't heard from since the day i walked out of the french school and never managed to look back. they say that good friends can pick up right where they left off. and even though alex and ulises are a whole country away, i think we did just that. and i'm grateful.

in other other news, it's mike's birthday. celebrate!

* i was the one wearing the long skirt. i wasn't waiting for an overdressed bus. cause i would be waiting still.
