ever get into one of those situations where you're not quite sure how it happened but suddenly someone is convinced that you did something/are something/have something and it's pretty much too late to say anything about it?

someone i know somehow thinks i have a daughter. i'm not sure how this happened, but by now it's too late to tell her otherwise because it's been two years. i hardly ever see her (not that it's an excuse) but every time i do, she asks about my daughter. i know for a fact that she has three kids, so most of the time i just smile ambiguously and ask about her kids.

the last time i saw her she asked if my daughter was enjoying school, so i'm thinking i have a school-aged child.

the thing is, that if that were the case, it would not have been a teen aged pregnancy. i'm old.

Tia has been in a similar situation. One of the guys at Costco always greeted her as "hi doctor, how was your day today?" or "hi doctor, how is the hospital?" or something to that effect. She always smiled and got out of it one way or another. He hasn't greeted her like that since she lost a lot of wait. She thinks he doesn't recognize her anymore.
