i have now successfully made pumpkin pie. (although i don't know if i successfully spelled successfully....) it was yummy and i know you all wish you could have had some.

my father has been here since thursday morning and that has been lovely. we went to see a show last night called "gutenberg the musical." one of the best lines (though there were lots of good ones): "a metaphor is when you mean something totally different from what you say... and you aren't lying."

we took my dad to times square tonight because you can't fully appreciate the sensory overload until you go stand there (and get pushed around by the crowd) yourself. among other things, we saw a girl posing for a photo shoot - we thought she might be someone famous, but concluded she was merely a model (merely. right) in a trendsetting outfit.

i'm so confused about what day it is because i had to work on friday. i did a story time for five very responsive four year olds, though, and that was fun (no one else showed). we had a great time with "going on a bear hunt" (cause that is a great great rhyme).

clearly, i need to go to adjective school.

current novel word count: i have no idea. i've been writing it from all sides and i need to print it out, paste together the story lines, and figure out where the heck i'm headed. it won't be done by the end of november (sigh) but at least i have characters that i am interested in (in which i am interested). i'm still going to become a world famous author and write the great next american novel, though, so prep yourselves.
