last night mike and i tried to go see the lighting of the rockefeller christmas tree. if we have learned anything from our experience with the halloween parade and now last night, it's that we need to get to these events at least two days beforehand, find a seat and camp out. otherwise, it's a tangle of cops, barriers, closed streets and eight million people all trying to find a seat too.
we gave up and went to starbucks instead.
tonight i was walking home and on my corner i saw a lady talking on her cell phone. as i approached her, i realized that she was my children's lit professor from grad school. very strange to see her on my corner! turns out she has a new book coming out and was meeting her editor. on the plus side, she remembered who i was.
when i got home last night, a christmas tree had been installed in the corner of our apartment. it looks very festive and happy. mike and i put up the lights and ornaments from last year, but we decided to make more too. last year we painted glass globes. this year we decided to sculpt ornaments out of clay.
evidence of our creative differences:
i made five little faces (a boy, a girl, and three cats).
mike made a slice of cheese.
