ok, so we didn't have much luck with the fireworks. we thought we'd get a great view from mike's building and we would have if it hadn't been for those meddling clouds! the smoke from the fireworks drifted between us and the actual booming lights bit. maybe next year we'll be luckier.

of course, we could have braved the crowds by the east river, but i believe i swore off doing that (remember halloween, the christmas tree lighting, and the puerto rican pride parade?). i guess i can be taught!

mike did a chemistry demonstration at the library today. of course the biggest hit was the flaming rag that didn't burn. and perhaps the soapy foam stuff that burst from the cylinder. or the part where everyone got to make their own slime.

my kids kept asking: "is he your husband?" "is he a scientist?"

i never thought we'd be so cool.
