i was sitting at my desk when a self-publisher came up to me. everything you think of when i say "self-publisher" ... yeah, he was all of that. on the plus side, he was looking to buy an isbn for his book and wasn't asking me to stock it at my library. i helped him figure out how to buy one and in gratitude, he autographed a copy of his book for me.

his book is about how the world is going to hell because we condone things like murder and homosexuality. he would probably not have been so kind to me had he known how i voted.

speaking of voting, mike came home from indianapolis with 20 minutes left before the polls closed. i opened the door, took his suitcase, handed him his voter registration and closed the door again. he made it in the nick of time.

for those of you saying: indianapolis? what??!!?? he was interviewing over there. and those interviews and this trip have just served to illustrate the point that new york ain't gonna be forever. there are things we still want to do (i want to see the radio city music hall christmas spectacular! and the rockettes!!), but it also means you have limited time to come visit the big city and get a free hotel stay! we're friendly! and so are the cats.

think about it.
