i'm producing my theater group's next show. we're doing kiss me, kate! which is not only a fun show, but one of my favorites.

most of the songs are great, but i've never had much love for "i hate men!" sung by the titular kate character.

see, lately men have really been stepping it up.

first of all, obviously, my husband, who's been interviewing and still running the fly rail for the show and helping with all sorts of VLOG related things (and who kept the cast party from disaster).

then there is the father who brings his little girl to storytime every week. she knows all the songs by now and sings along loudly. i love her. and today another father brought his little girl for the first time and sat on the floor with her while really encouraging her to participate. i think they will be back.

oh! do you remember when i waxed poetic about the melty bead crafts? i brought them out again and a father spent 45 minutes making designs with his kids. "who knew i was an artist?" he said to me when they came up to have their projects ironed.

on the other hand, there is the occasional slip-up. say, for instance, the drunk man that i had to kick out of my storytime this morning. he told me i was going to hell. of course, he was the one trying to take babies out of their mother's arms, so i'm gonna take that with a grain of salt.
