today one of the higer ups came to the library to see me do storytime. i didn't think i was nervous, but last night i had nightmares (i couldn't remember the songs, the kids were totally distracted, i was wearing deeply inappropriate clothing...). once i got going today, though, i rocked it. in case you were worried.
strange thing i have noticed in new york: people use old shopping bags as purses. not plastic ones, the pretty harder paper ones with twisted paper handles that look all fancy. more than once i have been fooled into looking for a bloomingdales in my vicinity because so many people were carrying "small brown bag" and "medium brown bag" bags. tonight on my walk home, a lady was carrying a bag that said manolo blahnik (good grief, did i spell that right?). i wasn't so much impressed with the bag as i was with the fact that this lady obviously had enough money to buy those shoes (no, i'm not going to try to spell it again). this must be the point.
