a long time ago, i saw two guys on the subway who ended their song and solicitation with something about new york city where all the women are pretty and they all have jobs!

tonight on the subway, we saw them again. they did a similar song with a similar rhyming ending (including "smile! it won't mess up your hair!") and then started singing "goodnight, sweetheart."

i was leaning on mike's shoulder when they passed us and the bass singer threw in a "you're a lucky man" to mike as they walked by.

of course, two steps later he added "we could use a fifty dollar bill" to another subway rider, so i don't put too much stock in it.

(but he was right!)
