october is story telling month and to celebrate, we've had several story programs at the library. today, a spanish children's book author helped the children write their own story. the children chose their own characters, setting and story.

wouldn't you know it, they came up with a story about how a princess was kidnapped by a dragon and had to be rescued. of course, she was rescued by a knight, a wizard and ... an electric man. he was quite instrumental because he was the one who actually killed the dragon through electrocution (yay electric man!) and got to marry the princess in the end.

the liberated paper-bag-princess-loving girl in me was a little sad that my children are so traditional. i'll admit to being a little swayed, though, when they unanimously decided to name the princess laura maria.

yeah, i'm a sucker, what can i say.

p.s. if you haven't read "the paper bag princess" by robert munsch, you haven't lived.
