OMG! OMG, you guys!

there is a reality competition show for everything - even for choosing broadway stars.

last night, we went to "legally blonde - the musical" on broadway. turns out, the actress who had originally played elle woods (the main character) had finished her turn and was being replaced by the winner of a reality competition show: the search for the next elle woods.

we were the only ones in the theater who didn't realize that we were witnessing her very first night on broadway, but as soon as she appeared on that stage we quickly found out. she could barely get her first lines out.

the show was cute enough, the songs were fun, and the voices were good all around. but, because i'm such a nerd, what i really watch is all the technical stuff. how are the sets moving? how do they handle scene changes? how are the lights working? last night, the sets were merely adequate (although they made great use of the trap doors and had a couple of fun little costume tricks) but the lights.... oh, dear lord, the lights. is it too much to ask that the lights actually be on the actors? and that the spotlights work properly? i guess so.

in other news, fred has discovered the second hand on our kitchen clock. when he's not chasing pipe cleaners around the living room, he can be found carefully watching the clock from our bookshelves. it's only a matter of time...
